This past Sunday The Wedding Kitchen had the pleasure of being featured for photography and video at The Pines Manor tasting. Good job via Pines staff. The Pines Manor has always set an above average standard, all around and it’s clearly appreciated by the persons they service. A great sales team and employees distinguish them as leaders for wedding hall and reception sites in NJ. We are happy to serve as the in-house preferred vendor.

Well we are preparing for a winter wedding this weekend and it’s coming down! As I tell all my brides. I am in a 4x4 and getting to location two or so hours before the start time. If I can’t make on time no one will.

We are reaching out to all professionals and none to extend a hand and join The Wedding Kitchen along with Faith Fellowship Church in Sayerville NJ to build a medical facility on Haiti. Faith Fellowship lead by Pastors Diane and Savid Demola have had a relationship with New missions in Haiti for over 15 years now. They built a facility many years ago that has been destroyed in the tragedy two weeks ago. My goal is to raise $10,000 to assist in this project. I believe the cost of total construction is 90,000. I know that New Missions and Faith Fellowship will give every penny to the cause and urge everyone to trust and give. We already gave $400 to the cause and expect to give another donation. If you have it in your means please give. They need it! I will take pledges from all interested and collect funds soon after. This tax deductable donation should be writen out to Faith Fellowship Church with memo “www.Newmissions.org.” building fund. How do you distinguish from so many wedding photographers in NJ. Photo journalistic or traditional photography? What makes an album better than the other? Is bigger always better? Why is this so much more (or less) than the other. You don’t have to be a wedding planner or such to use due diligence. Our friends at The Wedding Kitchen in NJ (and us) believe that a photographer should know both journalistic and traditional styles of shooting any special day. Every photographers goal should be to create a balanced album of both styles of shooting. Albums come in many shapes and sizes. You should know that any decent albums retail cost will run at least $350 in the greater NY & NJ area. Prints and and design (if necessary) is additional. It’s an investment. If you don’t believe in good investment I have a few .com businesses to sell you. Remember that quailty over a span of 4 years alone, will cost you less. In general pricing for a photographer usually depends on experience, product and cost of doing business. Do the math with me. Average cost across the coast for a freelance wedding photographer with real experience is $600 for a partial day plus. Add album, prints, design, editting and general cost of doing business (rent, insurance, additional product) and you can see where the final figure is going. Can you get cheap? Sure but remember the stock on cheap often drops quickly in time. You are best suited by going with venue referals, word of mouth and a proven business that you can return to later in the future with concerns and quetions. Meet or ask who you photographer will be and review there work.

This week has been the bussiest Ive seen yet. Friday and Brooklyn weddings took the lead this week. TWK’s Melanie has been hired for a March wedding featuring photography scheduled at Coney Island and the boardwalk. Should be cool.

No new year comes w/o bumps in the road. Printer is behind 2 weeks with products and I’m in overdrive. Stay tuned for more coming soon.

Well this 2010 season has come with a bang in the amount of new brides getting married compared to last year. With the economy creeping forward things are shaping up preety nicely. We have over two dozen events this year so far for a 20% increase compared to last year. Dates are moving quickly so do your homework, visit other places and then see us. Remember you get what you pay (hopefully). Trust in experience and proven results not talk and smoke sceens.

Well WOW. I was on the edge of my seat through out the play. Beatiful and electric with music and dancing. As a NYC native I appreciated the scenery and the way of life from back in the days captured here. Upon leaving I had the pleasure to meet Abulelita and got her autograph. She really is Cuban and was my favorite too! Well done. A must see for all. More so for the New yorker.
